2021 NEWT Perfect Pitch Competition (9/24)*

The Perfect Pitch Competition provides an opportunity for NEWT students to present their research projects to a panel of judges in a unique, 90-second format. The 1st place winner of NEWT’s competition will participate in a national pitch competition in Wash., D.C. with winners from other ERCs. National pitch competition winners will receive cash prizes: 1st place $5,000; 2nd place $2,000; 3rd place $1,000.
The winners of NEWT’s local competition will receive cash prizes: 1st place $500; 2nd place $200; 3rd place $100.
2021 NEWT Perfect Pitch Competition Details:
- Eligible Participants: NEWT undergraduate, masters and PhD students engaged in NEWT research
- Skills to be Developed: concise & persuasive oral presentation, big picture thinking, performance under pressure
- Pitch Content: description of problem/opportunity, proposed solution, solution impact, call to action
- NEWT Competition Prize Money: 1st place $500; 2nd place $200; 3rd place $100
- Timeline:
- Fri. Sept. 24th: last day to confirm NEWT competition participation
- Early October: orientation and pitch lecture/training
- Nov. & early Dec.: 2 – 3 total practice sessions with pitch coaches
- Dec. 14th or 15th: NEWT Competition (live at Rice U. during mid-yr./IPAB mtgs.)
- Mar. 2022: Nat’l Competition in Wash., D.C. at Biennial Mtg.
